Kirsty Hall

Senior Programme Manager – Auckland

I have always had a strong passion for children and being an educator to triplets made me aware that I wanted to proceed in Early Childhood Education and make a career out of extending and developing children’s ideas and theories. I spent the next 3 years studying at the University of Waikato for my Bachelors in Education in ECE and then came back to Auckland to teach. Teaching runs through my family as my mother has been a primary teacher for over 20 years!

I have spent 2 ½ years working with 3-year-olds in a Reggio Inspired centre. The opportunity arose to become a Program Coordinator and I was excited to start this new chapter in my life. I believe that children learn their most important life skills in their early years and what better place to learn these than in the home environment. I have been working for Playschool since July 2010. I am excited and humbled for the opportunity to come into people’s homes and visit families and be a resource to them. I love meeting with families and sharing those ‘magic moments’ with the children and their educators alike and watching as these children grow and develop. Playschool is a great resource to use when extending your child’s learning.

Home-based care is a stimulating opportunity for children as it allows them to learn in a familiar environment where they feel loved and nurtured.

Kushla Ryan

Senior Programme Manager – Auckland

Whilst training for my Diploma through distance learning, I worked as a Teacher in a well-known centre, KinderCare learning Centre, in Henderson. This gave me my foundations for excellence in child care and education. After completing my Diploma I wanted to find out and experience other childcare services so I thought it felt like a great time for the change so I made the decision to move to a new centre (Apples Childcare and Learning Centre). A few months into the role I was appointed Headteacher of the Pre-school room from ages 3-4, I had a blast in this role, I enjoyed working alongside families and their children, trying to achieve the best possible care and education in an aesthetically, warm and inviting setting.

Reflecting on my own childhood is what started to develop my interest in home-based childcare; I wanted to find out how I, as a teacher, could help support families and Educators further develop children’s learning while being cared for at home. From here I joined the team at Playschool as a Programme Co-ordinator and I am now able to help out with all sorts of questions and further extend children in their natural environment of home! I enjoy my visits with my families and I love seeing how the children are progressing. My personal philosophy incorporates, learning through a safe, happy and fun environment with added help along the way when needed. Playschool allows me to utilise my philosophy everytime I step through the door of one of the children I oversee. I am grateful for this opportunity to work alongside the families, friends and staff here at Play-School!

My name is Sarah and I am an experienced and committed fully registered and qualified Early Childhood Teacher with a teaching

After five years of centre-based teaching, I discovered my passion for Homebased Education where I was a Nanny for two families over two years. I was eager to attain and continue a leadership role where I could continue to support and guide Teachers. I have been a Homebased Coordinator and Visiting Teacher for one year and I believe I have found my passion within this type of role.

Kia Ora whanau, my name is Jessica. I am originally from China and I began my journey as an early childhood teacher in 2017 when I started my Graduate Diploma with New Zealand Tertiary College. I am now a qualified and registered ECE teacher and have been working in childcare centres ever since. I have decided to make a change and switch from centre-based to a home-based childcare service as I find it is meaningful to provide advice and guidance to parents and educators who support the learning and development of their tamariki at home. A familiar environment always means that children feel more secured and have a stronger sense of belonging. This is also where I could utilize my own knowledge, skill as well as experience to assist them. My personal teaching philosophy believes that it is important for tamariki to learn at their own pace to develop to full potential and I am glad that Playschool offers this opportunity to families, whanau, and tamariki. I look forward to meeting our lovely children and educators and working cooperatively to achieve this goal.

Kelly Rose

Programme Co-ordinator – Hawkes Bay

Kia ora,

My name is Kelly Rose and I am a Programme Co-ordinator in the beautiful Hawkes Bay. My husband and I have a 1-year old daughter and several 4-legged fur babies – consisting of lambs, calves, horses, ducks, dogs, piglets, & chickens…

I love to play hockey, horse ride (dressage and showing), and just generally being outdoors. We own a lifestyle block that is filled up with several varieties of pets, with forests to roam and lakes to swim.

I have been teaching for just on 10 years now, entering the profession straight out of High school. I went on to do my studies after a year of working in an ECE Centre and am now a Fully Registered ECE Teacher with a Bachelor of Teaching in ECE. Becoming a Programme Co-ordinator has been a big dream of mine, so I am extremely excited that this opportunity has arisen. I have worked in a variety of ECE Learning environments – Centres, In home-, nanny, and I have been a part of the Play Centre Association for 8 years too. All these different environments have influenced my passion and direction for ‘teaching’, so participating in supporting our tamariki to grow and develop into confident and competent learners is of huge importance to me.

Relationships are the core of my philosophy. I believe it is so vital in any child’s life to have a strong, secure, trusting and loving relationship, and I feel they are created effectively through an ‘In-Home Childcare’ learning environment. When these valuable and secure relationships are established, children just flourish and confidently go out to seek adventures.

Through my work here at Playschool as a Programme Co-ordinator, I will ensure I support everyone to grow such relationships, whether that be with Nana, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunty Uncle, a friend or even a new ‘family member’ (Au Pair). I am looking forward to working alongside families and friends to support our common interests and the aspirations of our children within NZ by providing quality Care and Education.

Rosie Wilson

Programme Co-ordinator – Hawkes Bay

Kia ora whānau and educators,

My name is Rosie and I am a fully registered and qualified Early Childhood teacher with experience in both early childhood centres and primary schools. I have spent most of my life in Hawkes Bay and have lived in Hastings, Porongahau, Havelock North and Napier. I come from a family of nine and spent most of my life caring for my four younger siblings. I now live with my partner and our four-legged pup.

My philosophy revolves around strong relationships. I believe in positive, collaborative relationships that empower tamariki to grow into competent learners. The best learning happens when tamariki feel as though they are surrounded by people that they have strong, safe and secure relationships with. I feel as though home-based childcare is the ideal learning environment for tamariki to develop and build those valuable relationships.

I started teaching early childhood in Hawkes bay while I was still studying in 2014. I then spent the following five years in centres throughout Hastings after gaining my qualification. I moved to London in 2019 and taught new entrants for a year. Finally, I came back to Hawkes Bay and took on this exciting role as a programme co-ordinator. I love my families that I work with and I believe our partnership towards children’s learning will provide a nurturing education full of aroha. I became passionate about home-based learning when I was a child as my own mother was a home-based educator. I grew up experiencing the amazing safe and fun environment where tamariki could learn at their own time and pace. I am excited for the journey ahead with my Playschool whānau and tamariki.

Kia ora Playschool Whanau,

My career in Early Childhood Education began with Playcentre, in 1990, fast forward a few decades, to my most recent role as an ECE degree lecturer which I finished in 2019. My ECE journey has taken me to many wonderful destinations along the way. One of the roles I enjoyed the most was as a programme co-ordinator for a different company. This led me to seek a similar opportunity to engage in.

I am extremely enthusiastic about joining the Playschool team and thankful to have found a company that aligns well with my values and philosophies. Throughout my career I Have studied, researched, and worked in Centre based services and homebased services, I strongly support homebased care as it supports the growth and the development of children with high-quality home environment and ratios that allow educators, nannies, au pairs, and extended whanau to provide meaningful one on one interactions, and time to achieve a much deeper level of relationship.

My personal philosophy is multi-layered and covers a variety of ECE areas, however, the foundation, of my overall philosophy is relationships. All that is encompassed in ECE is not achievable without a well-formed, reciprocal, respectful relationship. Whether this be between the adult and child, adult, and whanau, and many more varieties, the relationship is ALL. The relationship is key.

I have also taught a nanny certificate, been a homebased educator myself and as previously mentioned the same role as the one I have now with the Waikato region. I am very eager to build strong relationships with you all and extend the Playschool network in this region.

I am a keen music, art, and dance enthusiast, nature explorer, and avid bush, beach comber. I am extremely close to completing my Master of Education and have Adult teaching Qualifications to go with My ECE degree. My most important role and the one I cherish the most is Mother. I am extremely blessed with three children, 2 girls, and 1 boy. My son and daughter are adults now and have moved to Australia. My 12-year-old daughter is my precious princess and when I am not immersed in work, she is my focus, my joy, and my pleasure to parent. She also has two support parents, in her adult brother and sister, and is close with her father. I have lived half of my life in Tamaki Mākaurau (Auckland), and half in Kirikiriroa (Hamilton). Kia ora Koutou.

Sabiena Findlay

Programme Co-ordinator – Canterbury

Kia ora, my name is Sabiena and I am beginning my journey here at Playschool Education as a Programme Co Ordinator in the Canterbury region.

My journey in early childhood education begun 16 years ago where I began working in my local preschool. This stemmed a passion for children’s education and development and I graduated from the University of Canterbury in 2008 with a Diploma in Teaching and Learning in Early childhood.
I have been immersed in a variety of teaching philosophies such as R.I.E., nature-based, Reggio, and your traditional preschool environment and have worked with children of all ages. I have also taken on a leadership role with being a team leader and this was a great opportunity for me to support others. I have gained many skills and knowledge from my teaching experiences and am an open book and am happy to help in any way.

Since becoming a mother to two beautiful little girls, I felt that I wanted to offer more and the opportunity to become a part of the Playschool Education team was perfect. I find it extremely rewarding to be able to support and extend children and their families when it comes to learning and development and watch the magic that is learning, unfold.

I am a big believer in the 3 r’s – respect, relationships, rejoice. Respecting children for who they are and that they are capable and competent learners. Having strong and secure relationships that support the child holistically. And rejoice in all that they do! Celebrate the accomplishments, acknowledge the struggles and always feel a sense of wonderment and admiration in all that they do.

Home-based care is such a wonderful environment for our tamariki and being able to be a part of that movement and empower those involved is humbling. We all know that children learn best when they are in a safe, secure, and familiar environment with loving and present adults.

I am excited for my new journey with Playschool and making new friends along the way. Don’t be shy and come say hi.

Keep smiling and stay shining,

Sabiena

Kirk Anderson

Business Development Manager

After my eldest child was born, I became passionate about neuroscience and child development. It soon became obvious to me that the most crucial years of a developing child are between the years of 0-6. Now I have the opportunity to find families, with children of this age, eligible for our fantastic programs and services.

Prior to embarking on this amazing journey with Playschool, I studied Sport Science and then owned and operated a successful personal training company for 15 years. Over that time, I became very proficient in organising systems and processes, and building long lasting relationships. Attributes I am hoping to bring across to the Playschool Group.

My wife and I have 2 fantastic boys (sometimes 😊) aged 8 and 5. Whom we are very proud of, and that keep us both very busy, and constantly on our toes. I cherish the time that I get to spend with them, and it reminds me why our programs are so crucial to many families.

To be able to help families find a solution to their child’s educational needs and development is an honour. Especially knowing the programs that we offer are of such high quality and in-line with my own personal philosophies.

I feel very blessed and extremely excited to be able to follow my passion, and to work alongside such driven, hardworking individuals.

Carissa Vaudrey

Founder of Playschool

As a mother of twins, I found myself awake at night concerned that Casen and Macy’s Nanny had nobody to fall back on for advice on how best to nurture and educate the twins. Despite being enrolled in a home-based care service I felt that the individual learning needs of my children were being overlooked and what we had been promised was not what was delivered. From this disappointment, Playschool (my third baby) was born.

My number 1 goal with Playschool, from the word go, was to empower each child with the tools and equipment necessary to grow in mind and spirit in every way possible. With help from a great support and management team, I use my training in childcare, art and business studies to provide a fun and professional service that believes each child is unique and special.

Playschool is large enough to offer a wealth of knowledge and equipment but also small enough to care.
